Australiana Nostalgia

Orlando has teamed up with internationally renowned Australian chef, Guy Turland to honour the quintessential Australian home dinner party - Orlando presents Australiana Nostalgia.

Working closely with Orlando’s winemaker Ben Thoman, Turland has reimagined classic Australian dishes to pair with these award-winning wines, adding a fine dining touch to the uniquely Australian table setting. Available to replicate at home, Australiana Nostalgia taps into the fondness of an inherited and well-thumbed cookbook, and reinvigorates it with contemporary flair for your next home dinner party.

“I fondly remember my Mum preparing dishes like these in my childhood, and then staying up ‘late’ to snaffle an after-dinner mint.  So, it has been great fun to relive those memories with Guy developing this nostalgic menu and matching it to my wines.” – Ben Thomas, Orlando winemaker

Give it a go and try these nostalgic dishes at the leisure of your own home and don’t forget to follow us on @OrlandoWines and tag #Orlando

Mushroom Vol-au-Vent

Orlando Hilary Adelaide Hills Chardonnay

Orlando’s Hilary Chardonnay in its nutty oak finish elevates Turland’s wild mushroom vol-au-vent. The staple hors d'oeuvre and platter ruler of yesteryear, is made with fluffy pastry and a reggiano and black truffle infusion, all topped with toasted walnuts.

Roasted Apricot chicken

Orlando Cellar 13 Barossa Valley Grenache

A whole-roasted and stuffed apricot chicken, served with an apricot nectar sauce pairs perfectly with the ripe cherry complexity and generations deep Barossa sourced, Cellar 13 Grenache. The poultry staple was a must in 1970s home entertaining, and enters a flavoursome new modernised era with Turland.

After Dinner Mint Slice

Orlando Lawson’s Padthaway Shiraz

The fruit and mocha mint character of the Lawson’s Padthaway Shiraz matches up with Turland’s remastered after dinner mint slice, seeing the sumptuous mint filling encased with chocolate layers finish a party primely, in company with a full bodied and brooding Australian shiraz from a standout region.
