Our Accolades

MIKE BENNIE

Orlando Steingarten Eden Valley Riesling 2019

“The resurrection is here! Orlando as a brand has been given a fresh chance to draw on that deep well of historical goodness that made it an almost household name. Us enthusiasts will of course reminisce about Steingarten as a site, now a brand too, and think about the great wines of past and cellared treasures. We get another go. No label to go off yet.

Scents of cap gun (goes away quick) then lemon blossom, leafy green herbs, green apple and faintest blackcurrants. Lovely stuff. The palate is all tension and mouth-watering tang, rolls tight and yet lightly juicy at the same time, finishes long and with a puff of talc and green mango sweet-sour. Great energy here, quiet concentration, strictness and crunch to texture. Super release here. Drink now and when the bottle is dusty.”

Orlando Steingarten Eden Valley Riesling 2019

“It is a bit of an honour when a wine like this arrives at the door. Steingarten is one of the rieslings that put the Eden Valley on the map.”

RAY JORDAN

"I grew into wine with Orlando. The famous Barossa Rieslings were some of the first serious wines I tasted after leaving my undergraduate days behind. I still have clear memories of a 1956 Orlando Barossa Riesling, the garish label and the wonderful friends I shared it with one Sunday afternoon. Good to see you back old mate”

NICK STOCK

Orlando Steingarten Eden Valley Riesling 2019

"This offers very fresh lime and lemon aromas with some some pithy notes and a lightly grassy edge. The palate has a smooth, gently chalky feel with bright acidity carrying fresh lemons and white peaches home. Drink or hold. Screw cap."

Orlando Centenary Hill Barossa Shiraz 2015

"This is in new livery, but remains a traditional-styled shiraz with plenty of cedary and spicy oak, some light leathery nuances and bold ripe blackberries. The palate has rich and smooth tannins that are bathed in sweet, ripe blackberry flavors and laced with vanilla spice. Tirage has brought this all together nicely. Old-school style here. Drink or hold. Screw cap."

Orlando Jacaranda Ridge Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

"Very leafy and plenty of blackcurrant here, too, then some mint, chocolate and olive tapenade. The palate has attractively ripe tannins, carrying dark-berry flavors and some quite soft, supple flesh building into the chocolate-studded finish. Drink now."

Orlando Lawson’s Padthaway Shiraz 2015

"Aromas of violets, mulberries, mint, blackberries and black tea lead to a palate that has a neatly focused core of ripe dark berries and plums. Smooth tannins sit nicely here. Drink or hold."

Orlando Lyndale Adelaide Hills Chardonnay 2018

"This is quite ripe and complex and has a wealth of peach, melon and mango, swathed in some spicy oak, baked bread, hazelnut, flint and honey. The palate is smooth and richly flavored with a ripe-peach and lemon core and some mango to close. Layered, fresh and long. Drink now."
